Is a butterfly knife and butterfly knife trainer the same thing?

 


A Knife butterfly  is a real knife with a metal blade of stainless or carbon steel and a sharp edge. A butterfly knife trainer has an aluminium blank in place of an actual blade with rounded or flat edges. The training knife is used to practise different opening techniques and learn how to open butterfly knives.

The trainer is also helpful for practising offensive and defensive knife techniques, as well as disarms.

A trainer is only for training. When flipping a real butterfly knife open or closed, you can seriously cut your fingers if you don't use caution.
